A priest who was planning to visit and offer Mass for our Western NC Ordinariate group, Fr. Albert Scharbach, tragically lost his 21 year old son, Issac on Saturday. He was struck by a car while cycling near their home in northern Maryland on Saturday. He is the 2nd oldest of the Scharbach's nine children, and was a student at Davidson College.
I encourage you to read the Catholic Review article on him. The great young "blessed's" of the last 100 years came to mind when reading about this holy and strong young man. I personally will be asking for his intercession.
The family has an incredible and inspiring story of service to God. They are always giving. In their time of incredible loss and pain, I wanted to invite you to join me in giving to them. One of the most meaningful things we received after losing our daughter Abigail were spiritual bouquets from folks who we did not know, but who were showing us their love through prayers and sacrifices.
Our Mass on Thursday will be offered for the repose of the soul of Issac Scharbach. I hope you can join us in this most powerful prayer of the Church.
At the check-in table, we will make spiritual bouquet cards available along with pens where you can commit to any number of kind of prayers/sacrifices you might be led to offer. As you leave, you can deposit the card in a box, which will be delivered to the Scharbach family.
Should you not be able to make the Mass but wish to send a spiritual bouquet card, you can download this printable card a friend of mine designed and email me at wncord at gmail.com for the mailing address.
